For fun, I thought I would try a ball diff after reading the great ball diff thread and video on rctech. Many setup sheets say the diff is set up tight or very tight. Does this mean the spring is fully compressed?

In my case I could slip the diff by hand with the tires installed until the spring was just fully collapsed. I can feel the torque on the hex driver ramp way up after the spring coils bind. I was afraid the balls would get dented, but it feels smooth and ran fine for a full race night. I checked the diff during practice and between each race and it didn't seem to loosen up.

My initial newbie take on ball diffs is that there doesn't appear to a very large range of adjustment on these things. Am I doing something wrong?

How do you check the tightness of the diff? Spin one wheel and watch how many rotations it freewheels?

Thanks in advance.

AE Ball diffs are simple to set. Tighten the diff bolt down until its tight. (no gorrilla torq!!) Back it off 1/8 turn. Run the diff in the car and re-set after it seats in.

You do not want the diff to slip so you dont really adjust it so to speak. The ball diff delivers power to both wheels. The gear diff "diffs out" when cornering hard.

Thanks John,

I should have said mine is MIP, but I think they are the same no? Maybe the diff gear is black instead of white?

My sons truck has 7k oil inside his gear diff and it feels tighter to me than my ball diff? Does that sound right? I wish I was a more experienced driver to feel the difference on the track, but not there yet.

No sway bars for the front yet. You have to get creative to make them.

Default Setup Sheets

I would like see a sticky section so we can post up out setups (which are what we are currently running), so we can look through them. It is very frustrating to try to find current setup and have to skim through pages and pages. Would this be possible?

As much as we all would like that, I don't think it will happen on RCtech.

Hey guys, trying to find a good servo to put in my kids sc10s. I run savox 1258 and 1268 in my scte and my mugen but think that may be to much speed for the kids. They are 7 and 8 so controling the truck is a bit of a challenge. Running the old rtr electronics. Thanks for any suggestions.

These are both fantastic for the price! Dont let the low price fool you. I have been using the low profile one all season with no failures and its super fast!
