There are a couple of things I would recommend to do first if anybody is having issues with their truck.

1. check the left/right balance. I ran a string along the center line of the truck using the shock towers. I ended up adding about 3 ounces of weight to the motor side of the truck to balance out the weight from the battery.

2. Check your diff fluids. If you're running the slipper setup, you want a much thicker oil in the front. This will take away much of the truck's inherent twitchyness. I was running 30k/7k and liked how that slowed up the steering.

3. check your springs. The AE matched sets are no good. The rears are too soft. I ended up using blue fronts in the rear with yellow fronts in the front. This really helped balance the handling and especially helped with the jumps.

4. Use Jconcepts +3mm wheels. The wider wheelbase effectively lowers the cg and pushes your truck out to the roar legal limit.

I just thought I'd compile and share some quick tips that can be done cheaply and quickly (well, except the diff fluids) to improve the truck. This has been all stuff I've done and can attest to their benefits.

Thanks, those are all things I can do today.

Well I'm just going to start over and copy either BKs or Kodys setup except for tires.
So which one will work better on this track? More medium bite than high so I am guessing Kody but want to make sure. Thanks!

One of my best improvements was fitting stock tyres. I put them on the front and rear for a laugh but they where great!

I'm suffering from the wobbly diff. syndrome. What do I need to replace to get the play out? Just the case? The outdrives? The diff. gears? All of the above?

Thanks for your help.

Shim up the outdrives with extra shims from the diff rebuild kit.

If you are running saddle packs and a 540 can four pole, I'd run Cameron's last setup w/ Jconcepts 3D tires.

Both of the are somewhere between awful and un-drive-able outdoor. BK's is the best, but it's still too soft in the rear if you need to jump something medium sized or bigger.

George never runs outdoor or anyplace with a jump bigger than a parking lot speedbuster, drives a pink truck, and is consistently two laps off the pace of guys who aren't scrubs when it comes time to race for trophies.

Anyone tried the AKA Hexlite rims? How do they compare to the DE wheels?
