No, I don't think it was debris. The gear is concave, maybe .001 smaller in the middle than the edges. The only wear pattern on the shaft was on the edges.

Based on the way I worked on the shaft, and the pattern I saw, and the positive results I got for my efforts, I speculate somebody made a QC mistake on the bevel with my particular shaft.

I work super hard to make sure I have the quietest rigs at the track. My mass noise is probably totally acceptable to other users.

My B-4 is kinda quite and one of the fastest B 4.1 on the track ....

I never have to work hard at all ,just make sure the parts are all new or good condition and check for a bent motor plate & top shaft ..

New parts include a new spur & pinion gear...

Tip:
use a tab of clear silicon grease inside , also clean the box & gears every other week ..

yeah, I was very disappointed last night at the track WC. Got rained out at the outdoor track, so I went to an indoor track and ran my buggy. Seemed like a lot of the fast guys cleared the jump in stock without even laying into the triggers. Kinda seemed like they got more lift off the face. They were all also using the BB spring conversion. Is the conversion that good?

The Losi , Kyosho & AVID BB springs all out perform the standard Ae springs ...

better landings ,less slap , more traction & smoother cornering .

Been using the Avids , having nothing but good success with ...

we are going to do this again! It was a brand new kit out of the box.. All of it.

And guess what? They were new, and noisy too.

Do you get it that this was a brand new kit with all new parts that off the trailer with -0- time on it was unacceptably loud?

Whatever George, thanks for posting to be posting. Keep that post count up.

Has anyone here used the FT Lightweight outdrives (#1766)?

I ordered these by mistake but I need to be able to use them. They're smaller than the kit outdrives and need a flanged bearing in order to not have to use a ton of shims.

Any thoughts?

My kit comes in the next 2 days , any manual errors or anything i need to know in advance? or pretty straight forward following the manual?

Some questions for the racers who had a quite few racers already:

*What are the spare parts to have on hand?

*Any worthy hop ups for racing?

Thanks.

The only manual error I saw was when building the CVDs they dont tell you to make sure to use the set screw to secure the pin. USE THE SETSCREW TO SECURE THE PIN. it's all in the bag and if you've built a CVD before you figure it out but it would have been nice if they would have included at least a comment. All I remember

The Worlds kit does not have CVDs...it has CVAs. CVDs are made by MIP and different than the stock CVAs made by AE.

I highly suggest using a dab of CA glue on the CVA retainer shim after u build them...this way the Retainer shim won't move and the CVAs won't fall apart during a race.

The worlds kits is pretty complete. I suggest getting tires that work for your track first. The avid steering rack is nice, but not needed. Buy some lead weight because every setup you find will have about 2oz total added + the ballast under the rear tower.

I wouldn't suggest it either. Not unless it's loud. The MIP shaft was quiet, and the AE one was on back order. I took a chance at saving a junk part (brand new, but still junk) and it worked.

I have a triangle shaped file Swiss file that's perfect for that, but I loaned it to a guy at the track who forgot to give it back. The sandpaper worked fine.

The only reason I wrote anything is when I posted the question earlier, nobody could suggest anything that was very helpful.

Except for that, the chassis is strapped.
