no...more powerful and higher revving...but smoother and more linear in the curve...its very flat

no...

only did side by side track testing on that one.......I did however use all the tricks that I learned using the dyno...and based of the timing changes alone I can say that the mod Bonito is a beast compared to stock LOL !

Yeah I bet it is. Im just a numbers kind of guy. Id like to see where and what changed .

Well stay tuned, I will have my unit back up and running in no time....I think the changes made will be worth the wait.......

The dyno is an amazing tool, which really separates fact from fiction......I spent thousands of hours testing engines and different modifying techniques which has allowed me to take my craft to the highest level......... However as great as the dyno is, the end result for me is how the engines perform on the ground...And I tune my engines based on how they run on the track, making changes and improvements in areas I feel I can improve... In the Bonitos case it needed bottom end, the stock engine is light on torque...so I tuned my modifications to increase torque... On the track the difference is night and day, the Clocked Bonito has more torque then the stock .25's......... No matter what a dyno said to me I would not change the mods I have done to the Bonito..............Now of course if it wasn't for the thousands of hours of dyno testing I would not have the knowledge to specifically target a engines weak spot.....

Dynos are the most important tool. Its what seperates us from the others. They dont believe in them..we do. Its a tool. One I would not do without for sure.
Its the same reason my packages run like they do. I spent thousands of hours on the dyno perfecting combinations.

Hmmm maybe Ill buy one just to tinker with.

I couldn't imagine working without a dyno....

thing to remember here is that offroad racing is not about absolute power......Engine feel, responsiveness, clutch stall RPM ,mileage and stability are all huge factors......I can make a substantial amount more HP with my engines then I currently do, but they become soo aggressive nobody can manage to drive them on a track....... I actually back tune my modified to be track friendly...I put a great deal of effort to tuning the engines feel and responsiveness, probably more then I put into making absolute power .......Which is why I focus soo heavily on track tuning over dyno tuning with my Nova line.......... Now with that being said the dyno was critical for me to learn how these engines respond to changes, I would not have the knowledge I have if it wasn't for the thousands of hours of dyno testing.......... Now if I was building drag engines where maximum output is critical, I would be much more focused on dyno tuning.... But my ofroads are already too powerful for some, so I am not after increasing HP more then I already have.....right now I am focusing most on putting the power to the ground and refining what I already have....I cant stress enough how valuable having our own test track has been for us.....

I don't know- that "blossom" is kind of why like the Bonito so much in truggy. The bottom end is smooth and controllable, so you can enter the turn and exit quickly without spinning the tires, but then it will kind of kick into gear. Once the big truggy tires have the traction it can really eat up ground between corners, or give it some nice juice to [I]pop[I] it off a jump.

I could see how the proto might be good in low traction situations though.

Yes the Proto would be great in lower traction...tho its exceptional on the high bite too.....the curve is extremely smooth and predictable..... It does however make big power numbers and has a massive amount of bottom end grunt...I had a Buku composite on it, set with a low stall and running on ultra high bite conditions..Many engines would bog down under those conditions and the Proto pulled it without missing a beat....I was shocked by its bottom end, as it seems to start very deep in the RPM range and had no issues with a lower clutch stall............But its midrange is definitely a little less pronounced then the Bonitos's, tho on top end the Proto seems to wail, possibly as much or more then the Bonito.......Very nice engine ..........

Neal I can settle this...Just sell me the that Proto 7 and I will run it till the cows come home in this 108* heat against my Bonito and let everyone know.
