Picking up an FT SC10 soon.

My question is, what's the first must install mods when building the truck?

So far i've got the avid springs, and the hex sets.

I have literally gotten my F.T. truck to the point where nearly every part on it is upgraded (parts that you would want upgraded, that is). I can't even really think of another part that I want to buy for it. To people not in the sport (ie. my fiance), they say "great now you can stop spending money on that toy". But instead, I get antsy and consider buying another vehicle so I have something to upgrade again

However, one little thing that I haven't done on my SC truck, is to put aftermarket bearings on it. I am still running all stock AE bearings. Does anyone think that if I switched over to... say Avid bearings, that I would notice much of a difference? If so, what bearings on the truck are the most important to upgrade (transmission case, wheel hubs, steering rack)??? Also, I am still running the AE plastic rear B44 hubs (0degree). I have looked at picking up some of the AE Factory Team aluminum one's but wasn't sure if they were really worth the $30+ price tag

Can anyone else think of some upgrades that are often overlooked, but still make a significant difference? (Some things I've already done: Avid bellcranks and hex adapters, BB conversion, ceramic/carbide balls in the diff, solid axle pins)

I would recommend good electronics and tires before anything else. I wouldn't suggest running the tires that come with the F.T. kit, they are junk (the rear Subcultures are ok, but didn't work at all on my track). Tires make a HUGE difference, and getting ones that are designed for track conditions similar to your local track, will give you a significant advantage. Also, a servo like the Savox SC-1258TG will make a big difference.

However, if you are looking for upgrades beyond that, I'd highly suggest the Avid Aluminum Bellcranks. They are a one piece design, so you will get better response with your steering. Also, the RPM chassis and front bumper kit is a popular upgrade for the truck. It will add much durability to the truck's front end. However, if you are a decent driver, and don't wreck a whole lot, then you may not need the extra durability. Another cheap, but helpful upgrade, are the RPM heavy duty rod ends. Also, picking up a pack of lead weights is a good idea, and will allow you to dial your truck in a bit better. Another thing I did, that made my truck much smoother, was to replace the thrust balls in the transmission. The F.T. kit comes with carbide balls for in the diff, and they work great. However, the kit comes with steel thrust balls. I switched them to ceramic balls, and it made the diff feel much smoother, and last longer. I HIGHLY recommend using this RCTech video guide for assembling your ball diff. If you follow it, you will have a butter smooth diff everytime... guarantee it!

One other thing I would say, is if you are planning to install 12mm hex adapters, you may want to consider upgrading the rear hubs to those that are on the AE B44. The reason being, is that the B44 hubs have the same inside bearing as the SC10 hubs, but the outer one is larger and will not blow apart as easy as the outer SC10 one's. If you are looking to do this upgrade, you will need to buy AE B44 rear hub carriers (or an aluminum B44 rear hub carrier), 1 set of the AE outer bearings, and 1 set of the AE crush tubes. As for the inner bearings, you would reuse the inner ones from your SC10 hub carriers. Hope that helps

Yeah lake hit it dead on the head man. Lake I have bn very pleased in acer bearings that I hd in a buggy I use to own and u can spin the wheels and it seekmed as if the never stopped turning man lol but I'm gonna try the avids in my sc10 and b4.1. Cause I'm happy with the other aid products I have and there are way better price friendly too, can u reeally tell a difference between avid springs and losi bb?

The tires are pretty much a given as i've been in the hobby for quite awhile.

The electronics are taken care of, most everything is airtronics, the rest is orion.

So, on my list is the b44 hub carriers, the avid steering rack and avid springs along with RPM cups and avid hexes. Anything else?

I pulled the aluminum hub carriers off my FT B4.1 and used them on my SC10. Are they the same as the B44? I actually took every FT part and used it, then added the rest to make it a FT SC10.

Hey guys I want to put upgraded bearings in my sc10 but I dnt know the metric or standard size of the outer rear hubs

i look inside of my hubs and it is slightly scuffed up are theystil any good or should i replace em, if they arent any good who makes a good aftermarket aluminum hub?

Just go to Avid.com and you can pick by kit. You can also mix and match bearings, like if you want ceramics for the transmission and revolutions for the rest. You'll want to enter b4.1 ft since you have the ft hubs that will include the larger outer bearing for the hubs.

I figured they were. Anyone use the AVID carbon rear mounts on them? Been thinking of getting a set. I like how they have both sets built into the one.

Are they scuffed where the bearings ride? If so I heard AE had a bad batch of hubs with to much clearance around the bearings causing them to spin in the hub. Contact AE if so I think they'll swap em out for you.
