Ok, going to give the 44.1 another try. Just picked up mattp's roller. Will do the bb spring conversion, but what about the hex? The front is already a hex but i could not find the size? Is it 12mm? On the 44 the hex goes on first and then the pin. Not sure if this will work with the hex conversion hubs. The rear is the same as the b4 so that will work and i can share wheels between cars. What about front hex? If the front hex conversion works what wheels do i use?

The steering rack looks different between the b4 and b44. i assume the avid rack will not fit the 44?

No. B44.1 front hex is 9mm (or maybe 9.5mm). Even if you were able to switch hexes, the B4.1 front hex wheels have a much different offset.

What about the rears? Can I do the Hex conversion and run b4 wheels? Will the offset be the same?

I heard that JConcepts is working on a B44 front wheel. Assuming it's going to take the 12mm JC hexes as well. Although, considering the front offset on the B44 is pretty high, I can't see a Mono wheel for the B44 looking like they do for the B4.

Default Tight slipper assemblies

Wondering if anyone has had problems with the B44.1 slipper assembly being very tight when you mounted it in the car? My 44.1 built up OK, but when I tried to put on the vented hubs the unit was very tight to assemble onto the chassis and would not spin freely. I measured up the hubs and they were 5.0mm wide (standard was 4.7mm). This adds 0.6mm to the assembly and caused it to be tight.

I assumed it was just the vented hubs, but the other day a friend built his up (standard hubs) and it was also too tight. They measured up 5.0mm as well.

Anyone else come across this? Not sure if it is a batch out of tolerance or a design change? It is fixable by filing off 0.3mm from the outer end of the hubs (the end that is away from the spur gear.)

thanks for help
Ballast weight helps make the car rotate more off power and settles the rear more in bumps. It makes the car a bit harder to drive and will bottom out more at the rear but generally faster on a tight track. For very high grip flowing tracks, you can try with it removed.

All B44 front hex rims use the standard (~9mm) hex. There are currently no 12mm front hexes for the B44.
