Exclamation T-Maxx Transmission Help!!

Hey guys, I'm new to the nitro scene and have no idea what T-Maxx I have. If anyone could tell me what model this is,
I think it's the pro 15 from what I could tell. My question is, I picked this package up for $50, which is a complete steal,
worth a lot more for sure, and I would be stupid to pass it up. This thing is beautiful. Everything is in like new shape. I can't
believe someone was selling this for $50. The motor runs great, but tranny works when it wants to and does not want
to shift, which is a nothing to frown at for the deal I got. If you rev the motor up, sometimes it will pop into gear,
but will not shift. Does anyone know what may be the problem, or does anyone know what transmission I would have to
buy to replace this one. Like I said, I know nothing about these, and didn't know if the tranny from the 3.3 or 2.5
were the same, or would work. Any input would be great!

Holy shmokez mang, $50 for an original T-Maxx, that's a pretty nice deal haha! I've never seen one that clean before either. Somebody must've taken really really good care of it. Anyways, my answer to you is completely dependent on how much you're willing to spend in both the time and the money department..

You can easily pick up one of these transmissions online for just as great price as anywhere. Would you be interested in a forward only, or a reversing transmission? Forward only has less rotating mass and slightly lower weight which will allow you to reach higher top speeds. Reverse obviously allows you to shift into reverse haha. Let me know and I'll point you in the right direction. Doing this you're probably looking at a good hour or so (more or less) invested (saying that because you said you're new) to take out the old transmission and drop in the new one.

Your other option would be to take out, disassemble and repair/tweak the internals so it works like new. This is mostly a time investment, but if you're interested in learning your way around the T-Maxx transmission I'd be more than happy to walk you through finding the problem.

Also, what'd you mean by:

Thanks for a quick response!
As far as time and money, it doesn't matter. Whichever gets me on the dirt faster is probably the road I'm going to take. Top speed isn't really a concern, so I would want the tranny with reverse. Will any T-Maxx transmission work in this? If possible, I'd be happy with the OEM replacement. Do you know what model this is and what part number I'd need for OEM? If it's something simple and fairly cheap, I'm not afraid to get dirty though. I'm going to have to learn it sooner or later, so I guess I'll start by breaking her down and cleaning. Then we'll open up the transmission and I can get pictures if I decide to go that route. The motor started right up, however the tires do not move when given throttle. At about 3/4 she'll pop into gear, which I'm thinking I only have either 1st or 2nd gear engaging. I ran it down the street, and it did not shift at high rpm. Sounds like it's stuck in neutral until the pin pops into place, giving it throttle may be coincidental in just rattling the pin into place. However I pop it into reverse, and it engages properly and the wheels rotate normally with the amount of throttle given. Thanks for the help, I want to run so bad...lol.

Ok, found what model I have. It is for sure a Pro .15. Obviously an older model, but it's in beautiful shape. A new transmission fully built is about $55-$60 on ebay right now. Rather than tear this one apart, I'm gonna put it in the spare parts bin and call it a day. Something breaks on the new transmission, I've got spare parts. I managed to get hold of an exploded view of the .15 transmission and it's the same tranny as the 2.5. Gonna clean her up and get rolling!

Do you have any gently used transmissions? If I could snag a nice used one, that would be sweet! Otherwise, $50 isn't bad for a new one off ebay.
