I use a 17 odd year old tamiya ta03f so anything can work if you can get the gearing but the associated tc4 club racer would be ideal if you don't have anything. My car is just starting to get set up well enough to be competetive but it's more about the fun than coming first

Sorry to go against you thee ruben but my speedpassion was only hitting high 40 yesterday with 2.9 for. And I wasn't happy with the punch. So I went back to 3.14 and it's great all round with low 40s. So this is one time I won't tune to temp. I've heard that 3.5 is an ideal fdr for speedpassion. I'll try this out on the weekend.
Great stuff our own thread maybe some setup & gearing tips as well.My car is going & handling well but not quite fast enough.I have an older speed passion 21.5 with 0-10 degrees timing and 3.207:1 fdr I plan to go to 3.05:1 which is 1 tooth up on the pinion 2 teeth will take me to 2.9:1.Should I go straight to 2.9?

Pretty much anything will work from what I have seen .. of course you always have your usual suspects but some of the boys are using everything from Sakura, Sparrowhawk and TC4 to Xray and Associated... As long as you can gear up to final drives between 3:2 to 2:5 youre OK... Having said that some cars like the Sakura have been known to be harder on front tyre wear but Ill let the owners handle that one rather than myself.. I personally use the Latest Edam E Spirit ... built tough competitive and as yet no parts required..

run with anything that has 4 wheels and moves, was the mantra last night!
2 of the VTA's (mine and Matt J's) both had unplanned pit stops after we drove the wheels off our cars (chuckle), that or we forgot to do the wheel nuts up enough, i suspect it is the former as we wouldnt be that silly to do the latter would we
I was running a sakura zero with all the bling (solid front, aluminium bits n bobs), a set of fronts would be lucky to last 2 meetings. Tried everything, had the softest springs available but alas no luck.
A couple run silver cans and they work well, doesnt seem to matter if you have a brushless or not, especially when its spinning on its roof
Im going to bring camera down and get some pics of all the cars sunday
