Summer 2004 Dirt Racing

Any MARCCA guys want to come out today the 26th, and work on the track ? A bunch of guys could make quick work of it. Tilling, Rakeing, rolling. In fact you don't have to be a MARCCA member to help. Come on out and help put the track in good shape for tomorro. We will be out here all day. Thanks, Brian

Wow.
I am overly impressed with The Rock Pile. We stopped out today, (to practice, but due to the rain no practice action) and saw the event. Heck I was so impressed with the 1/8th speeds and racing, I am thinking of trying to pack my schedule solid with R/C now
(Saturday @ The Den for onroad, Sunday for the Pile, Tue for The Den Practice, Wed for Pile practice. )
Kudo's to those that put on the events out in Deforest. Way beyond my expectations!

Bunch of folks look to be heading up to Oshkosh for the "Firecracker 30"/Corn roast up at the Hobbytown USA track on Sunday since there is no Marcca race.
30 Min Main sounds sorta cool

Thanks to Horizon Hobby for the White Lightning Race Fuel, t-shirts and screw drivers that we gave away at the races on June 27. Horizon Hobby was also quite generous in donating prizes for the MARCCA 2004 Capital City Carpet Challenge that was held at the end of April.

I want to say THANKS to all the guys that helped groom the Rock Pile Race Track. That was a lot of work in the hot Sun, Sunday afternoon, and Wednesday night. You guys have got it in excellent shape (World Class), for this Sunday's Off-Road point series race. This last few weeks the Rock Pile Race Track has seen some really good racing, There are some real fast drivers & some real drive fasters. Hope to see a bunch of racers come out and GO FAST! Brian

It’s a simple concept don’t turn your radio on when you don’t have the clip or when a race is progress. I don’t want start a huge rant but I have to say something. I was down at the Rock today running my Storm. I was by no means having a good day as far as driving or having my engine tuned right. By the mains I had gotten slowly better and I had my engine closer to being tuned good. There was about 2min 30 sec left in the main and my car goes blazing off the track and hits the Race Directors’ trailer. At least someone had the sense to stop it and shut it off. (BTW Thanks) What happened? Receiver battery dead? Dead Transmitter? Nope, there was a guy on my channel. I checked the heat sheet and found out who it was. Turned his radio on and was heading out to the track to warm his car up! The race before him was still in progress! What is the right thing to do here? The guy I was pitted next to said I should return the favor. But that could be dangerous. I was having fun today and now I get to fix my car. Two broken control arm mount screws and a smoked clutch. Sorry about the rant but at least now I feel better.

So what are we going to do when we find out who it is. Tar and Feather? A good stoning? Press with weights? Better yet put him in some Stocks with a big sign around his head that says. "I Turn my radio on in the Pits" Then we could charge a buck and people could chuck water balloons at him.

The right thing to do is to ask the racer in question not to return to the track. There should be a zero tolerance policy for that sort of behavior; take Trackside as an example. You turn a radio on during a race, you're out the door. There's no excuse.
