a somewhat related question, years ago (losi jrx pro se era ) losi/ae 48 pitch gears are different with kyosho/tamiya's 48 pitch gears, is that still the case nowadays?

Yep they are the VSC2 caps. And yeah, some like them and some dont. I go back and forth between bleeders vs bladders. I like both. But I also still like/use 56-57 losi pistons too.

Thank you for posting that.

When Matt was into his onroad phase, he was living in Sac and they ran an indoor carpet track in Stockton....the details aren't important, but one of the last races that I attended before that deal ended one of the guys who raced oval was in management at the local Coors distributor, and had a birthday party the night before Friday practice, and was kind enough to bring the liquid refreshment that was left over, and, well...I don't know if he remembers any of it. From listening to the podcast apparently not!

I had all of my practice done early on in the day, and had stuff packed up because I had the field covered by 0.2 second/lap and didn't want to hurt the car. I proceeded to really have a reeely good time for the rest of the afternoon.

A buddy who showed up late bumped me for fast lap by some fraction (he ran a 4.23, I remember). So I unpacked, resauced, charged a battery, went to the drivers stand....and reeeeeely staggered up it there. I ran two laps and yelled down to somebody I knew who was standing next to the computer and asked him what I ran. He said "4.18, then a 4.17" and I pulled off.

And then had to get help to get off the drivers stand.

G'day guys,

Just got back from cactus, and while I was there I noticed almost all of the AE runners were using big bore springs on their v2 shocks.

Can someone please give me some part numbers which will allow me to use big bore springs? I need part numbers for shock collars, lower retainers and the equivalent AE springs,

BTW do they use them on b44.1 also or mainly the buggy?

Thanks in advance.

It took you 2 weeks to get home? Did you walk?

Just kidding

Ghea sells the threaded top retainers. Traxxis or losi bottom retainers are used and the best springs are either kyosho or the new avids. Sorry, I dont know part #s

What lipo do you use, shorty or standard? The Avid springs and Kyosho springs are the hot ticket but the Losi 22 springs are 99% as good.
Here are the Losi 22 spring cups http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Cup-Set-TLR-22
And here are the Traxxas spring collars TRA3768 http://www.infernosonly.com/TRA3768_..._p/tra3768.htm
Or use the fancy GHEA collars #GHEA2070 http://www.absolutehobbyz.com/produc...oducts_id=8480
Most guys using the shorty pack and losi springs have 22 red front springs and 22 white rear springs. Standard pack guys are using 22 orange or red front and 22 yellow rear.

Do yourself a favor, get the GHEA collars, them traxxas things are just that, cheap substitutes for a race car part.

Also looking into getting the GHEA #2 pistons. As well as a set of springs from the Yokomo BMAX2, similar to kyosho's but alot cheaper. I just ordered them from Japan, like $46 for all (5 sets) shipped to Ohio.

I am currently running both and really like them. Just waiting till i cant get my hands on some the AVID springs.

I run on a fairly bumpy and dusty outdoor track in aus. Went from standard AE brown/green springs to Losi orange 22/yellow22. I figured these would be similar tension but actually the losi set were much firmer. Too firm for my track.
So I am now back to the AE springs with much more success.
I will try the losi red/white set next and see how they go.

The traxxas collars work but they make it hard to spin the threaded collar as they are not threaded them selves and they stop you from getting a decent grip on the threaded collars which they sit up against. pretty annoying actually. If you have the money, get the ghea collars.
