If you have logged an hour or two of run time and it's still knotchy, yes. If you have only just started running I would just let it break in over a couple packs and then reassess.

lol! Yeah, I'd loosen em up a touch. What I ended up doing is installing a .3mm shim on each side as opposed to two stock shims. Butter smooth and I find the single shim is less prone to deformation as well.

Sounds good! I'll do it next time I rebuild the diffs. Just one shim on each cross gear right?

If all you have are stock shims I would put one on one side and two on the other (take out one of your current shims), reassemble and see if its still knotchy. You want it as tight as possible to avoid the mystery clicking some guys have come across. I would try to get one thicker shim on each side asap though so you don't unevenly wear the outdrive bushings.

For our trucks, under the big sun gear. 2 of the gears in there. Thats it.
Try 1 extra... then 2 extra if not happy.

I used the smaller in circumference black shims that I think go on the outside of the diff. Got a diff rebuild kit to replace damaged sun gear shim (a-arm contact with outdrive) and I have spare stuff.

Where'd you get the .3mm shims?

Default center diff version 1

Okay, so after working non stop for 3 months I finally had time to take out my truck. Prior to this, I ran the clutch basket. The difference is that the center diff makes the ride a lot smoother and easier to control. But the take off is not as strong as the clutch basket. I did put some black grease on the diff balls. Is that okay? The nut is all the way down to be as tight as posssible.

Im running 60/14 and my temps ranged from 160 to 180 after about 7 mins.

Im guess that's why the center diff has an updated version coming out?? Waiting on that...

Any tips??? Thanks

Default rolling resistance ?

how far does your truck roll while doing the belt test in the manual ? it says with the belt properly adjusted the truck with pinion off should roll 10-15 ft. mine doesnt come near that with the belt fully loosened and nothing is binding. i get maybe 8 ft.

maybe associateds "slight push" is harder then mine ??
