I recently bought a full lot of engines and a real nice OS .12 red blockhead was in there. I put it into my RC10GT, and have now realized the perfect marriage of form, fit and function.
I would like more of these for future projects, but they're discontinued it seems. eBay is dicey in terms of what you get, I've learned a lesson or 2 the hard way.
Is there something out there that mimics the performance of this engine? I'm speaking mostly in terms of tuning ease and reliability. The motor won't set the world on fire with horsepower by today's standards, but it's an absolute joy to run. No flameouts whatsoever. I've had a similar experience with the .15 as well.

That nova is really nice. More power and more price but the reliability is there. We used to use a dynamite .12 xpd for the equal to the cv in a spec class I ran. Not sure if it's still available though

It's nice to see that .15 is still available.
I'll probably go that route with the backplate mod like you suggest. That .15 I believe is the next best thing to what I'm after.
What about that Hyper model though? I can't post links yet, but Graves has the Hyper .12. Is that more akin to the R spec version?
