It's personal pref and what you want to do with it. If you want to go that fast a RX8 system could get you there

There are alot of options.

the cheaper but still a good name is the castle 2400kv mmp sct combo. 180 on ebay. This is what I run.
the next step up would be a mmm w/ a 2000-2600kv castle motor.
cheapest=hobbywing 80-150amp esc.

I would say to keep it on 4s.

+1 there are tons of motor/esc options but 4s seems to be the battery standard

I was looking online at hobbywing and they had some leopard motor/esc combos would you say they are a good starting point to see if I even like brushless? I believe i saw a 2000kv and esc combo for around $150. Would that provide decent power and speed?

Thanks

I've seen a leopard system ran in a rustler and it was stupid fast. I think toyspd runs hobbypartz setups. I always say the RX8 setup is worth it but then again that's my personal pref.

The RX8 is a great setup, I have it in my short course. I am running a Caste MMM and a 2650kv motor. It has way more than enough torque, and enough top speed to where I haven't found the room to get 2nd gear wide open yet on 4s

Either one is a good option. The Tekin is a bit more money, that's because it is sensored, so it's butter smooth. The Castle will do the job just fine, just not as smooth. I have no personal experience with the hobbypartz/wing/king setups, so I can't comment, but I have seen plenty of good feedback about them.

Actually, the Tekin system can be had for the same price or less then the Castle system. Just an FYI.

It has been forever. Hell its been forever since I've used any of my rcs. Too much crappy weather lately. I'm getting withdrawals lol.

As for my maxx build, I have a nice tax return check that should be here any day now. Once that gets here, the build will commence. I have been slowly snagging nice parts here and there. Got some HCR parts, some FLM, working on getting some SuperMaxx parts also

Update, just added this beast 2250kv and shredded 2 freakin tranny's trying to run it on the track. Holly crap. It was super fast on the street but did'nt get any numbers. I'm so ticked off, now that i'm out of a truck. So now I need a tranny, Do you guys know if the bl emaxx tranny will handle the power? Or do I have to do the steel gear option? By the way, I did brake down and bought a new motor bracket. lol
