Make sure you are only dipping in the turnbuckle, and not the aligator clip or wire you're using to attach to the turnbuckle.

The wire shouldn't matter unless you are using 22+ AWG, and provided you have enough voltage. Typically, 60+V is suffiecient, so about 7 or more 9V batteries in series.

8-9v batteries will be enough. Done it plenty of times, like I said before your not using enough juice B.A.

Put the negative lead into the simple green and the positive lead clipped to the titanium part, dip it in for about 20-30 sec. and it should work.

someone mentioned earlier that if you play with the voltages you could change from silver to different colors. anyone done that? gold's just not for me.. lol

It can be done, but requires a fair bit more voltage. Google "Mr. Titanium" and check out his Titanium Anodizing how to section. I'd link it, but I apparantly don't have enough posts on RCTech yet
