I was referring in my previous post to the side shock. I am running the HB center shock now. It is almost like a different and better car. I think the old one had too many rub points for the angle it was at. The side shock is more of a straight push/pull. But what do I know....

Motor wires are unsoldered, I'd say he changed the motor for colour coordination.

Ah well, if the tech sheet said he ran a D3 it probably was a D3.

I just ordered an Xray and Serpent shock. Guess I'll order the HB as well and test them all.

It looks like they all use the same style of spring??

Thanks for the info guys!

Do yourself a favor and order the Encore shock. It is far and away the best shock I've ever used on a pan car.

the HB, Assosciated, encore and silva shock use the same size spring.

i don't know about Xray, but the serpent shock is shorter length and larger diameter compared to the others.

No one that I normally order from had one in stock. I will pick one up when I find one.

You will definitely need Serpent springs for the Serpent shock. Don't over tighten the cap or you'll crush the o-ring seal and it will leak.

I change mine the old-fashioned way. The shaft fully screwed on is about 1mm of pod droop, and I never run less, so I just unscrew the shaft a tad and all is well so far. Its not quite as easy as the Silva shock but it works for me.

I kind of like the weight of the standard size up front. I only ask because I'm thinking of picking up one of the new RC12R5.1 and doing the Li-Po conversion, and with that conversion it appears you "have" to have the mini size servo.

If you use this:

http://www.teamcrc.com/crc/modules.p...prodID=7719154

changing length is pretty much the same as the Silva.

What metal polish do you guys use for the front kingpins? Im using some I had laying around in the garage, but it is almost out...

And is it recommended to polish the link pivot balls? Ive seen some people do this, but I it also seems that the link balls are often teflon/ptfe coated... To polish or not to polish?
