So you're saying I should put some 1/5 scale shocks on the back with multi-stage pistons that cost $1000?

Got it, will totally do this.

P.S. You've been posting here forever indeed and I've learned a helluva lot reading your stuff. Good job taking the high road! Always surprises me how many good people are on here wearing flame-bait retardant suits. I wonder if the folks on the other threads are as polite, knowledgable, and snark-free as 99.99% of the people on this one.. Or is it just an RC car thing? Or is it just an AE RC car thing??

What track are you racing at?

Try 27.5 or 30 wt in the rear #2 piston and AE Green Spring. I run 21mm ride height my buggy slaps the chassis. It happens. lol

Alright I'll give the #2's a shot.. Since I was lazy and bought the RTR kit I haven't touched the shocks yet. Doesn't look too tough as long as you RTFM and take your time.

On another shock-related matter, do you know where to get (only the) shock boots to cover the front and rear shafts? Seems like I'm getting some crud build-up after *every run* where the shock body meets the shafts. I clean it right away but that's getting old. Seems like boots would help a ton here, no?

I race at Vincenz. It's a big track, some jumps, rocks, dirt, grass, asphalt.. Ok, it's a residential subdivision in Gilbert. But once I can steal a few hours away, I'm headed for Glitch and/or ET. I watched a couple races, but haven't participated yet. Still getting a feel for the car and trying to get semi-dialed in before looking stupid... Not that I won't look stupid if the car is dialed in or not. I'll just be happy if I don't jam it into reverse when the race starts.

21mm - Since I don't have a gauge, is that bones level, or?

I had the greens (naturallly) and it's not like they were bad UNTIL I lowered the ride height. I probably should have gone after the pistons first, but like I said earlier, the springs were wayyyy too cheap and easy not to give them a WTF? attempt.

Ride height is a very critical setting. 21 is way too low! 24.5 to 23 is standard and the best.

They would, but AE doesn't make shock boots for the B/T4.1 shocks.

unless your running on an oval track 21 is very low..you def. notice a big difference with ride height

yeah 23-24 is the "magic" number in the rear, i always run 24 or slightly lower in the front.

i planning on #1/losi bb silver 32.5wt in front and #2/losi bb white/27.5wt in rear. 24mm/23.5mm

#2/losi bb silver (rear 3.4 - till 22t green front --3.5)/30wt in front and #1/losi bb white / 30wt in the rear on the truck. 30mm/29mm

these are where im going "start" when i get my shorty packs

I have and went back reason I said I am happy.

I am still testing different springs on it. I just gotta wait for more to get back in stock.

The adjusting part of these things is endless.

I might like 24mm or whatever ride height with new(different) springs. I just gotta wait till I get them. Still need the lower cups.

It's all good

Boo ya...

http://www.tsrproducts.com/index.php...010101-v2.html

I did some more hunting while I was bored, think I found some! These look a little weird though, used to seeing the "wrinkled" variety. I wonder if you use a heat gun on these, but they look too thick.

Price is... not great though.

So again, how high is bones level on the B4.1? If 21mm is below bones level, I would agree that (for *me*, of course) that would be too low.
