Traxxas 2wd Slash Thread

the newer XL-5 speedos have a sticker saying they have LVC (low voltage cutoff). There is also one on the chassis in some cases.
If you dont have cutoff, you can still use the battery. You just have to be careful to stop running it before it gets below 6V.
They make cheap sensors that plug into the balance port and tell you the voltage, and beep when it gets to 6.4V. They sell for about $5 on ebay

I posted this in the 4x4 slash for myself and now I need these questions answered for my buddy since he has a 2wd slash.
Ok guys we are going to practice at bumps and jumps come wednesday. It was a track with short small jumps with one long straight away. It also has about 6 90* turns, 3 45* and about 3 180* turn. LOL It is completely stock except RPM arms up front a couple integy parts like hubs and stuff. It has big bore traxxas big bore shocks on it. He will be using either his 7 cell Nihm or a 2s lipo. He bought tires that everyone else uses up there.
1. Which Preload spacers I should use?
2. Where should the shock be mounted on top and bottom in front?
3. Where should the shock be mounted on top and bottom in rear?
4. What else do you suggest I do?

1. None, you want the car as low to the ground as possible.
2. Should be mounted on the outer-most hole.
3. On the outer-most hole
4. Put some traction compound on the tires, it softens them up a bit and allows the car to slide a little bit without giving up forward traction

Guys w put in the Element ESC and motor. Even before this he didn't have much brakes from the factory. Now he has even less. Does this have a a brake in the transmission? Kinda like friction pads or what causes it to stop when on the brakes? So what do we need to upgrade to get this thing to stop better?

regarding losing brakes on the stock setup, ive found that the titan motor actually causes it after a while. it just kinda wears out over time (benefit of brushless)

Put a 9t 4300kv system in the slash today!! WOWZERS!!! Absolute blast now!! Breaks em loose on dry pavement until the last 5 minutes or so of my battery.. Just runnin 4200nimh packs for now.. Cannot imagine what this thing would do with Lipo!! But being 2wd sure makes it fun!!

Hey guys just bought a slash today rtr, came with the titan 12t motor. I purchased pro-line bead lock wheels with aka grid iron tires. They are super soft tires with great grip. i will be racing in a indoor dirt track and it's pretty much a super tight track very well packed in. I need advice for cambering and such if possible? Please? also whats a good brushless system for it? was thinking Castle? 8.5T? Thanks for reading!

Feels great to see a Slash 2wd perform on rails. Chad Cason's a real good 2wd wheeler, but he also pushes past limits and it was just taking it well. Still no ball diff or AE slipper conversion (FLM gear diff in this one w/stock slipper cranked down). It's the black & gold truck in 2nd-grid spot.
