Also if you are using personal transponders, remember that they have to be mounted horizontally.
Another thing, I had the wire from one of my personals get caught underneath the chassis, where it rubbed through and shorted out. The personal was ok, but since it operates out of the battery slot on the receiver, it fried my Noval XXL instantly and the car took off into a wall, where it promptly fried the motor as well. It was an expensive lesson.

Here in Kansas City Missouri we are using the AmB Rc sytem with TGR Software ( it talks and announces the race ) we also use the personal transponders and they are great. The RC system personals are diffrent they are Digital and will not work on the older systems, along with the regular transponders they are diffrent also. First race is SUNDAY MAY 5th. Starts 10:00 am Sharp. Asphalt Road And Oval. 180X75. 2X4 Barriers. Thanks Eric.B SEIDK Racing And Hobby Town North U.S.A.

They will work with AMB20 systems, older than that I don't believe they will work.
The older AMB sytems will only recognize the last digit. The last digit and any car number must be the same. If you are using any sort of bump up at your track then the bump up number and the last digit must agree if using the older AMB systems.
If you have purchased the newer AMBrc system the only thing you need to do is watch the race.
As far as weight, they are roughly half the weight of the rechargeable transponders used by most track, approx. 3 oz.

Sorry, last digit only with AMB 20 system.
On the TGR software, as I have stated before, good idea but .....
be careful. Hopefully it will work as intended, one of these years.

I may not get the full advantage of a personal system this way. but at least i can have MiniF1 race now. with the old big-o-transponder there's just no place to fit the darn thing.

I don't know of any r/c system-program that will accept more than 10 racers at any one time. The big boys use a similar program that is written specifically for their use.
Their transponders are also much bigger and you have to buy them based in part on speed considerations, up to 160 mph or over 160 mph. I don't think that has become a concern for r/c racing yet?

There have been several posts on different threads about radio problems and the installation of the personnal transponders. It simply goes back to a mostly male problem, you didn't read the instructions and as a result have been trying to mount the transponder on top of the receiver.
Read the instructions and don't do it. That will clear up most of the glitching problems. This seems to be mostly on the NTC3 as it doesn't have a transponder mount included with the kit. In this particular case you can run the wires under the front shock mount and put a screw through one of the mounting holes in the p/t and into the empty hole in the top of the diff case.

I am not sure where you guys got your information about the old AMB and the new AMBrc working together. They don’t. At least the instruction book that came with the AMBrc said they don’t work together, the testing I did when I brought our tracks full setup to another track that had the AMB20 setup didn’t work, and calling and talking to the guys at AMB-US in Georgia said they don’t work together.
The old transponders send out an analog signal. The new AMBrc decoder box only knows how to read the digital signal sent by the new transponders.
The only old thing that works with the new AMBrc setup is the race management programs. When you first turn on the AMBrc decoder it is in AMB20 mode, meaning that it will read the new transponders (and only them) but only send the last digit of the 7 digit code to the race management program. That way you don’t have to change the program you are using. If anybody shows up with a personal transponder, they won’t be able to use it unless you assign them a car number that matches the last digit on their personal transponder.
I wouldn’t recommend that you allow racer to use personal transponder if you are running the old software with the new AMBrc system. We tried that, and when the races were resorted for the main, on of the racers that was using a personal transponder ended up with his car number changing. He knew that he needed to use one of the club transponders so his car would be counted but he forgot to disconnect his personal transponder. His personal transponder number ended with a 6 and there was another racer on the track using the club transponder number 6. According to the computer, car number 6 ended the race with twice as many laps as everybody else.
In my experience, no, the personal transponders do not work with the AMB20 systems.

First of all, no you are not being paranoid. If I got something that was different than everybody else’s I would be asking questions too.
We run the new AMBrc systems and order a lot of personal transponders from AMB. All of them have green lights. I sent an e-mail to our support contact at AMB and the following is a quote from his e-mail:
“Orange is the new color of the LED.”
So, it seems you have one of the brand spanking new personal transponders and if anybody tells you your light is the wrong color you can respond by saying “Oh, that is just because you have one of the old transponders”.
It is odd that they wouldn’t send an updated booklet with the new transponders.

At the track that I race at. The track supplies the rechargable transponders to each racer before the race, as is normal. However if you have a personal transp. then you are allowed to sign up with it and race with it. I could ask this weekend and find out what versions of Hardware and Software that they are using if anybody is interested. (providing it does'nt rain) I'll ask too if there are any conflict issues that have occured.
