Team Orion Engines

A friend of mine runs the CRF 3 port motors and they have identical carbs to my 5 port Disco.. He also has a Tebo WC engine, but the carb on it is slightly different. Spray bar sticks out into the venturi a touch farther, and the phenelic bushing going into the intake is a a different color and is a slightly softer material..
I talked to Jared at Real RC back in July and he was running the NEO engine then, he said it had a different carb even from the WC engines.. He however didn't offer much more then that and I didn't want to press the issue.. Very cool laid back guy when he isn't on the drivers stand..

" A LOT" of good information on this thread, made me feel very confident in my decision to go with the Orion Alpha .24 Truggy engine....
Quick question so am I right in my thinking going with the above mentioned .24 along with a 2013 pipe for be a good choice?
What brands of 2013's are out there or is there like an equivalent pipe?
Right now I'm running a Losi 427 with a TTR 2039 (086) pipe and closed backplate, expecting a big difference and runtime!

Now on to your question. If you want a TON of bottom end then yes the 2013 is what you want.. When I ran a Trinity .24 I used a JP6 or 2057.. The .24 makes alot of bottom end any way, the 2057 was a bit too soft in truggy, but i liked it in buggy for club racing.. You can always adjust clutch settings to smooth out the bottom if it is a bit harsh...

Not all 2013 pipes are the same.. Generally the brands you will find are Werks, Orion, or Sirio. Trinity eXtech and nVision also have pipes with their names on them, but there are fewer of them out there.. When I say not all 2013 pipes are the same, some of the pipes are actually shorter, Ron from Werks found this about a year ago, the shorter versions are ON-Road pipes. If you get a 2013 with the renforced stinger it is most likely an Off-Road pipe..

Thanks, I originally was looking at that ExTech .24 but its no longer available. I like what I'm hearing about the Orion .24 though. Looking forward to trying it out, I know it will be a big improvement over my Losi 427 I currently run!
Doesn't Losi make a 2013 pipe also?

I want to keep it all Orion but I can't find an place that has the actual picture...they all show a brushless motor like this one

Could you point me in the right direction? Also it seems the Orion pipe is about $40 cheaper than the Werks equivalent.

When you consider I can get the Orion Alpha .24 for $174 from amain why not?
I'm only club racing and am not entering ROAR sanctioned events. The Orion .24 will be great for me.
I do appreciate and value your opinion though as with everyone else.

I will google it now though.
Thanks for the suggestion

well even my $225.00 mod Argus will make more juice then the .24..I know some people really like them, but I was never that impressed with the .24 engine......sorry to hijack the thread..

Why don't we just change the whole "Offroad Nitro Engine Forum" to "Buy Maximo's Engines Forum"?...

Torque and POWER are two different thing...My losi 427 makes excellent torque but not good power. I feel won't lose as much torque with the Orion .24 as say a .21 but yet will gain POWER and mileage.
I know that the .21 would be what everyone suggest but I like being different. If it works for some it will work for me.
The discovery looks nice though..Not bad for $150 though.

People were always raving about the power and runtime of the square stroke Sirio .24 Extech 2 (TXT1R). The Orion .24 is basicly the same thing and people were impressed with it's power aswell.
I haven't tried it myself yet so can't comment but I have a brand new full mod pre-run TXT1R-US sitting here with 2013 pipe for use in my truggy. As soon as spring comes along i'll break it in and report back
