1700 is still a good choice. 1900 is about ideal for almost everything. But you will need to run a larger pinion like stated. If you still want to try a 1900, you can usually find a slightly used one for around $100-$110. It's always good to have a spare anyway.

TBH, I have not read all 355 pages so please forgive me, but do you think I made a mistake with the 1700?
After doing the math on a gearing calculator, if I go up to a 16 tooth pinion, it says, the speed will be the same with less of an amp draw then the 1900 with a 15 tooth. Is this an option?
