You say it acts like it's linked. Does that mean the green light on the receiver is on when the transmitter is on? If no, that should be the case. Like Duster said, you will have to calibrate the ESC to the transmitter. Instructions should be with your ESC. If the tx/rx is not linking, make sure you don't have the BEC and Servo connector reversed also.
It is a older slash... with a LRP brushless setup...... the green lights are on on both the rx/tx, it appears linked but won't do anything at all....
i'll check and see about the calibration stuff
