There are a few of us who have similar cars and have run at the CORRC pavement track this summer. Cars are a kick to drive and the rubber tires will last for awhile (well not the soft kit tires). There are two threads here on RCTech for the IGT cars and yes there are better brake options for you.

I've got a DM1 but the other cars around are GT's or GT-2 cars. PM me if you want.
