I can tell you externally the TP case is milled in several places. One is to make getting to engine screws easier. Another is to allow you to run 2 short header springs and one long header spring rather than 4 shorts. The shorts can come off from time to time so using both types gives some insurance in a long main. I also know the oil hole on the TP rod is improved over the TQ version.
Most important is I have not seen an old GRP or a TQ engine run like the TP did. If something has to physically look different for you to believe that they are different than wait a bit for the new engine coming out. Fact is they are ALWAYS going to look similar by eye and by specs because the specs on these engines work. Look at the bore and the stroke of the TP and TQ.... the new OS engines coming out are going from their ways of the past to a bore and stroke identical to these engines.
You are right, I have numerous GRP Sport and Tuned engines, I am pretty good at tuning engines and I have to say that the TP engine in current guise is far superior to the GRP engines. The new one is waiting to be run in, however feel that it will be an improvement on a very, very good engine
