Then your not running it hard enough....
You definitely need the CVDs for the ST The cvds have the longest length and the plastic will flex distort and come apart if you run BL.

The ball diffs help you smooth out the truck and if they are set right they will slip enough to keep you from stripping spurs when jumping.

The RC18T2 has its issues as well. I happen to have both and I enjoy them.
Are they perfect...NO but when one breaks I have the othger to play with while I wait for parts....

All the open wheeled vehicles will benefit from metal CVDs....
Whatever platform you choose be ready to spend $$$
