No need to use an external booster nor external regulator. Use the ESC's built-in regulator. This setup is the same as using a single 7.4v battery race pack to power everything. Many 12th scale racers have done this mod and have worked flawlessly for many many months. I have been using this mod for over 2 months now and no issues. Somebody understood what was going there pretty well.
We need to look at it closer before we endorse it. You are actually giving the esc control circuits 3s voltage and letting our regulators provide the 6V to the receiver. The only downside is that our bec regulators cannot put out as much current due to the higher supply voltage which should not be problem in the 1S cars.
Should actually work the same with a 1S lipo added on the switch line. That really gives us the 2s lipo voltage we want.
