your correct what you say it is cheaper buying inserts rather than arms but the rear arms dont wear any faster by trying to make the pin slide through easier.
Making the pin slide through easier or rotate in the arm easier WILL make the arm wear faster. If the pin is rotating in the arm while running, the arm will wear. If it is rotating in the inserts, the inserts will wear. Something has to wear. I prefer it to be the inserts, as they should be changed regularly anyway. As you said they are also lots cheaper than arms are.
