The guys breaking your chassis, are you putting alot of weight out front on top of the skid plate? If you put a lot of weight on top of the skid plate, the stress will translate down to the chassis in the area where it is cracking.
Not adding much more than 1/2 oz or so, not enough to break the chassis.
It can take a pretty good punch but it has also shown that it does have a weak chin if you manage to hit it right on the button.
Better safe than sorry if you don't really feel like doin an R&R of the chassis.
It'll prevent or quick repair if you're too late.
Seemed like a good option.
