I like that the 1030 is now the same price as the Ice used to be. When it had been $180, it was hard to justify - so many other chargers were cheaper and better with more features. The 1030 has the backlight that everyone was dying for on the Ice. 1030 is built in the same body as the Ice so it has a small footprint.

My only complaint is there is no builtin balancer for lipos, but other than that, I've been pleased with it. If you're racing the batt conditioning on the 1030 with discharges up to 30amps may be of interest. Even if you don't currently use lipo, having the capability may save you from buying another charger when lipo does become something you want to do. You would need a $35 additional balancer and you'd be ready to charge/balance up to 4S lipo.

The Ice charger, now at ~100 bucks is not a bad choice either, I gave mine 5yrs of hard use before discharge function (only 10amps) cratered. It does lipo and just about everything else as well (neither does lead acid cells).
