That is where the bad news started. It was running ok when all of a sudden WOT OUT OF CONTROL. The car hit a wall and flipped over (thank god). I tried to stop the motor by stopping the flywheel from the bottom but realized that was a no go due to me wearing flip flops and it was just tearing them up. The car was spinning like a top in the street by now tearing up the head and wheels like pizza cutters. Then it died. I let the motor cool and tried turning crank by hand and there it was. GRIND GRIND GRIND. I took it apart and a new piston/sleeve/rod are in order.
Here is my question. Are the 5-port and 7-port crank the same (I think they are)?? If so, it is possible to buy the 5port piston/crank/sleeve and install them in my 7port case right! Last question is, what are everyone's opinion on the 5-port instead of the 7-port. It is installed in my LOSI 8 truggy and it seems like the 5-port is the way to go but I will miss the top end of the 7port on the straights.
What a BUMMER
The 5 Port has more bottom (more aggressive power on) than the 7 Port. Don't underestimate the 7 Port though. It has good bottom too, it just doesn't come on as nasty as the 5 Port. So for most tracks the 5 port is better suited to a truggy. Run the 5 Port with a Dynamite 086 or the GO 0801 and you will be very happy. Top end is not as good as the 7 Port, but with those pipes unless you are running pretty long straights you will have plenty of top end, and bottom end power to burn.
