I have had problems with uneven spur/pinion mesh too. I thought it was from poorly machined gears but when I looked more closely it seemed to be the layshaft out of spec. I changed the kit layshaft out and the new one i have in there also does not seem to be right, but better than the one I replaced.
Let me know what they say when you hear back from them.
They sent out a replacement slipper shaft. It's been on for a week with tension on the spring. It's not bent at all and is running true. I've yet to race with it, but i'm pretty optimistic so far.
