2) Yes, apply green slime or some other grease that is compatible with silicone. You would apply this to the o ring, the inside of the rod guide, and the rod where the threading is. Putting a generous amount of green slime on the threads will help prevent damaging the o rings.
3) I don't know about the red/orange o rings, I have never used them.

So the tamiya TRF blue competition O-Rings (P3 size) are better than the clear O rings in terms of preventing oil leak and durability? From the description in RC Mart of this product, it requires additional shims (Tamiya #53586) for clearance. Is it really necessary to get the shims if I were to use this blue competition O rings instead of the clear O rings?
