No difference from a "surface" servo. Heli/cyclic just means they are super fast.

All about application. They try to get a length that works in many different vehicles. My 1015's fit perfect in my nitro buggy and Truggy, but were about an inch short in the Tekno.

Doesn't matter. Hitec makes servos for robotics, but also recommends them for 1/8 steering servos.
