You'll be off pace since the SP has such limited mechanical timing advance. HK Trackstar motors are the way to go for a budget motor that will be competitive. It's a shame the Toro Aries Pro 21.5 isn't ROAR approved, because the 17.5 is an awesome motor.
If you already have the SP, you might as well try it. I have mine in a M05 mini with the blue sensor board set at about 1/2 and its an absolute rocket.
