I have been running LiFe cells for a few years now in my DX3r and now my dx4r pro radios with no issues. I find the trick is to balance charge them. I'm still on my original ones. I also used them in my nitro vehicles for receiver packs. I just bought a holder from radio shack to put them in.

In the radio I use two dummy cells to keep the voltage to 6.6 volts, when they get to 6.1 volts i swap them out. for the 2 dollars they cost its a cost effective solution.
