The next day I put my buggy on the bench to look it over and clean. While I was doing this I decided to plug the programming box in and just check it out. As I was about to unplug the esc from the rx, the car took off full throttle.

As some have mentioned sometimes if you turn the wheels slightly the motor goes full throttle for no reason. Well I think I have a fix. I noticed that when I rocked the car back and forth I could hear the esc or motor start to whine a bit, like when you barely apply throttle. So I put in 5 clicks of brake trim on the radio and kept rocking the car, dabbing throttle, turning the car on and off, etc... It would not go into a full throttle glitch anymore. I then backed off the trim one click at a time and kept trying to replicate the problem, it did not occur again until I got to 0 trim. I then put in one click of reverse subtrim and I got the same results no glitch, no full throttle burst.




Then I tried increasing the neutral deadband in the programming box from 3% to 5% and that also seemed to solve the problem.

I have a cheap Airtronics Mx-v. I think the issue is the latency on the radio and the resolution of the speed control. So I suspect that with a better radio this may not occur. I could be wrong.

Anyway it's all bench testing until I get back to the track in a few days.
