Your truggy is also over geared if you're running 17/45.
temps were worse with a 15t, motor up to 100 and esc 85 (this was on an even smaller tighter track)

i put timing on 1 thinking i'd be able to get longer run times and keep everything cooler, as i thought lower timing and higher gearing will give me more or less the same result as default (timing on 10), but it would be more efficient.

so my question is, for what im trying to achieve, would a better starting point be putting the timing back to 10 and keeping the 15t on? and will this keep my temps down?
