I hate to say it but the Durango RTR is quite a bit better than the Associated. At least they put half way decent electronics in it. They've got a sensored motor for crying out loud. RTR should encourage people to stay in the hobby. Crappy/frustrating/pathetic electronics won't do that. They don't need to be world class but they need to be serviceable.
Sorry, but if you don't pay for good (serviceable) electronics, then you "get what you pay for."
And I've yet to see an RTR in which anyone has paid for a quality build let alone paid for good electronics.
I see few instances were RTRs encouraged someone to stay in the hobby, and instead just teaches them they can pay somebody else to do all the hard work for cheap and that they get something for nothing. That's my 2-cents anyway.
