Running TD cars myself, I've run up to 6mm of shim under the outer steering links and as many as 4mm on both front and rear inner camber link mounts. I understand your concern, but I've never broken a ballstud on them. And the ballstud shim pictured are 3x8mm, providing a wider mounting surface for more stability in that regard.

Ti ballstuds definitely take more abuse than stock ones do. Next on the mod list, just built the truck a few days ago.
