What your missing is Serpent has adjusted the diff cup and ring gear dimensions. They no longer require the shims. They just havent bothered to updat the manual LOL
When the ebuggy came out there was an addendum that said to make sure the gear mesh is tight as it will loosen up after running it. I followed these instructions and everything came out fine.
