Due to differences in the weight of the electronics installed in our cars, and the different amounts of lead weight, no two preload settings will be the same. I use three different batteries in my B4.1 and I need to reset the ride height for each one.

Is your o-ring installed? If not, the collar will spin, altering your ride height.
Try seating it in one side of the collar and working it from both sides with your 1/16 allen driver. Don't try to use your finger as this will never work. When you figure out this trick, it becomes very easy to install these o-rings.
