Anywhere, between 15t-18t for the pinion should get you the right gearing.
Doesn't get hot at all....I raced last night. It was my first 30 minute race. While everybody was pitting, swapping batteries and filling up gas mid-race, I managed to run 5 laps ahead of the pack before pitting. I usually don't check my temps because I never had an issue with motor temp, but my friend checked my temp during pit and it was at 115 then and after the race.
