Ryan Maifield is using a Reedy 627 which has more runtime and higher C rate than the pack that Cavalieri uses from Orion. So he cuts the ballast weight down some to keep the total weight of the battery plus ballast the same between both set ups.

I tried the 50 (using lead weight for now) grams this weekend while using the Reedy 627 pack. I never added weight before this. I added additional weight for the main to see what would happen, turned out to be a bad idea. I liked the 50 grams better. Totally amazed at how much better the car handled with the weight.
