What is the benefit of running aluminum rear hubs...

What is the benefit of running aluminum rear hubs and 67mm bones over stock parts? I understand the better angle geometry but do you gain anything in terms of handling?

I think it is used in place of waterfall brace on laydown trans to facilitate a more rearward mounted lipo in lower grip conditions. I guess it would add some more flex as well
