A private sale from a person on the internet could be compared to buying at a pawn shop. Most pawn shops don't do refunds / returns.

From a sellers point of view, it's not a good idea to send refunds in the form of payments.

A less than honest buyer might reopen, and win, a claim, and you the seller are out double the money.
