I have a 3906 with the Mamba Monster 2200kv ESC/Motor combo running on 6s. It's bombproof, but took $$ to get there. I think the only traxxas parts left on the truck are the bumpers... lol.

Look for "hardened" or "heavy duty" gears from any of the makers the previous posters mention. I used HB lightning a few years ago and haven't touched them since. I also upgraded to cnc'd diff cups....

If the edge around the hole is all knarly, trim it up so you have a smooth surface. Then make a lexan sandwhich on the area with shoe goo, let it cure and drill a new post hole.
