Before you change anything significant ride height makes a significant difference. 24mm front and rear is pretty common. You can have the setup spot on but if radio and speed control arent right...

you didnt do anything wrong on the wing. some guys preference when not painting the wing is to scotch/pad the wing giving it a frosted look.

i will tear it down and air it out 1 or 2 a year...

i will tear it down and air it out 1 or 2 a year is all. i dont run on really loamy tracks. i will spray bearings wilth motor spray and lube with bearing oil or 3 in 1 oil.

dont use electrical cleaner on any part of the motor, just some compressed air, clean/oil bearings. (if brushless)

I also felt like the avid setup gave a more direct feel. If you have a good servo you shouldn't have any issues. The small tie rod and ball cup will pop off first if you have a significant contact...
