First thing I recommend before putting loctite is to clean pinion and set screw with some type of degreaser to make sure the cutting oil is gone.
Usually makes all the difference when using loctite.

I don't agree that the only benefit is added runtime as that is NOT what I experience on a track.
I don't know if you race but it is felt on a track when coming out of a corner and needing to clear...

0.5 is so much quieter and pinions on a metal spur are lasting WAY longer than their 48P counterparts.
