4wd mod buggy was the first offroad class I ever raced (I raced mod Touring Car before trying offroad). Hardly broke anything the first year I raced it and they're an absolute blast to drive. I got a 2wd buggy to race as a second class my second year. I can't express, on a family friendly forum, just how much I hate 2wd buggy.

Most 4wd buggies are not more durable than a 2wd, but in my experience, they are much easier to drive and just far more fun(my XB4 takes a beating like a champ though). Your results may vary, but this is how I honestly feel. Thread needed some contrasting opinion to the 2wd love fest. #$%! 2wd!

2wd is fun...It definitely teaches you throttle control. I also think it's probably the best class to start out with...just my opinion.

As a rule, 4wd is faster for any person vs what they can do with a 2wd buggy.. but you only have this true if you are racing your own times against yourself.

You put a rookie 4wd up with a seasoned 4wd driver and you will see a difference.

I would suggest as a bottom line to get what you want and just have fun, but do not buy some top of the buggy thinking it will make a pro level driver out of you. And I would also suggest if you are just getting into this as a first car to moderate your investment unless you just have that much disposable income. And last, if you plan to race, then go sit on the bench one day and watch a race, you will see not just the cars being run in the given classes but the personalities and skill sets you will be up against.

I went with the 22 2.0 which I feel is a very solid 2wd buggy. I set mine up for 17.5 racing and have yet to brake a part.

I have the losi 22 2.0 as well. Its probably the worst out of the box car ive driven. Takes a lot of upgrades to get buggy where you will want it. Im the few who think 4wd is more fun, however 2wd is better for learning.

I have just been through a simular thought process chasing my first 2wd 1/10 buggy for stock class at my local club.
I am normally a losi man though and though but this time round I am giving the team Durango Dex210v2 a go as it seemed to suit my needs and budget, and is very tuneable
