What's a fast race truck that will be fast and go good on a dirt track thinking bout getting into RC racing

I'd recommend the Baja 5T with Castle's electric conversion kit. Great setup to get started especially if your looking for fast and dirt.

Any of the top brands (AE, Losi, Durango, Serpent, etc...) are going to be good platforms. As far as speed goes, that's gonna be down to a lot more factors then the brand of truck you choose. If you have never raced off-road RC before you are in for a treat.

It's not as simple as putting a hot motor and battery in and going fast. I know several (well, ok a lot...) of people that are way faster than I am with them running a slower motor. Once you get on the track, straight line speed has almost nothing to do with getting around the track fast.

Stop by your local track and talk to folks. Find out what classes they run and go from there. It would suck if you invested money into a class of vehicle that they don't have a race class for.

In the beginning A slower vehicle is almost assuredly going to result in a fast race pace for you. It will let you learn throttle control and setup for the vehicle.

You really need to be more specific. 1/10 scale short course is a popular race class. Then it's 2wd or 4x4. 2wd is cheaper, but much more difficult to do. 4x4 usually uses a more powerful motor which is a bit more expensive and the car itself is more expensive. I personally use a Losi. THey are heavy and fast. You don't get pushed around with them. But that's my opinion and asking which is best is like asking who is the better band. You're going to get 20 different answers. The top ones are Losi, Team Associated and Teckno. They are really fast, heavy and kick my Losi's butt, but they are expensive. If you are going to race, stay away from Traxxas. They are tough, easy to work on but not really competitive racers. They are more for bashing.

If your just starting out grab a short course truck but check what is popular by you class wise the next factor is budget if your just starting out have no tools etc. your gonna dish out some cash even if you go the budget route it's gonna add up.
