Default Wheel nut tightening/unscrewing

hi, i've got my hands on a new sakura d3 cs kit.
after building it up i realised that the wheel nuts are rotating together with the wheels. on the left side of the car they unscrew when the throttle is applied. and on the right side they tighten up until it becomes too tight for the wheel to rotate at all.
the opposite happens in reverse.
has anyone encountered this problem before? i can't seem to find a cause for this.

You probably just need a serrated lockout for the wheels. Any of these examples should work: http://www.amain.com/Search?cID=&s=4mm+serrated+locknut

the kit came with 4 of those labeled as a "flanged nut"
looking at the serrated ones the only difference is that there isn't an o-ring inside the nut.
could they be the cause?

The serrated ones have a cut or "serrated" face that grabs the wheel itself and prevents them from rotating relative to the wheel whereas your kit ones probably have a smooth face.

the ones that are in the kit have grooves on the surface as well.
i'm starting to think they are either defective or i must have built the kit wrongly

Make sure the wheels are properly seated on the hexes but then, after that, the nuts are what I'd replace first. There's really nothing that should make a properly tightened serrated wheel nut rotate against a wheel face beyond a mis-machined nut itself or less likely, an improperly machined axle that has bad threads.

i'd have to make a trip down to the hobby shop then.
the wheel nuts are rotating in the same direction together with the wheel face.
and since it's a counter-clockwise direction(when moving forward), the nut will unscrew itself off the axle.

You could try some blue locktite. That'll hold them unless the axle is stripped which could be caused from using standard nuts on metric threads.

I think you're missing something on the axles such as a pin for the wheel hexes. The nut will always turn with the wheel. The hexes and pins keep the wheel from free spinning on the axle. Without that assembly you'd be relying on the torque of the nut to keep the wheel from free spinning. The nut holds the wheel to the assembly. It does not hold the wheel from free spinning. which is what it sounds like is happening to you.

You may also check to see if your axles are not rotating in the steering blocks and if the bearings are not frozen . But as others have said, check to see if your hex pins are ok.
Good Luck and have a Blessed day.

+1 for the blue lock tite. You can take a Drexel cut off wheel and make your own notches/serrated nuts. Fyi I use locknuts for my Tekno and use blue lock tite every once in awhile......
